What is Chemical Pregnancy, Why Does It Happen? What Should Those Who Experience Chemical Pregnancy Symptoms Do?

Being a mother is a sacred condition that all women want to experience. When every healthy mother-to-be starts to think about the baby, she starts to investigate whether she is pregnant with the symptoms she experiences as the menstrual period approaches. However, not all pregnancies result in a positive outcome. While some mothers hold their babies in their arms at the end of the 9-month period, some expectant mothers may experience miscarriages. Chemical pregnancy is also a type of miscarriage.

Miscarriage is the loss of a baby experienced when the baby is not able to develop while pregnant or the body is not ready for this pregnancy. In other words, while the pregnancy test is positive in miscarriage, at the same time, pregnancy is seen on the ultrasound. However, chemical pregnancy is only at the very beginning. In chemical pregnancy, the pregnancy test is positive but the sac is not visible on the ultrasound. Chemical pregnancy usually occurs before the 5th week of pregnancy. However, miscarriage can also occur before the 20th week. In other words, in a chemical pregnancy, the pregnancy ends before the egg settles on the uterine wall.

Since chemical pregnancy will take place before the 5th week of pregnancy, this period coincides with the menstrual period. This is why most women end their pregnancy before they even realize they are pregnant. Some women confuse bleeding from a chemical pregnancy with menstrual bleeding. In general, 70% of women can experience a chemical pregnancy, and the most important reason for this is an abnormal condition in the chromosomes. Well; If the number of chromosomes in the fertilized egg is different from the normal, the body notices this and the pregnancy ends with bleeding.

What Are the Symptoms of Chemical Pregnancy?

When women become pregnant, the hormone Beta HCG rises, which is already understood by the rise of this hormone. However, in a chemical pregnancy, the level of this hormone begins to decrease. In general, women who experience this situation do not experience simple pregnancy symptoms such as nausea, weakness, and fatigue. For this reason, some women can go through a chemical pregnancy without experiencing any symptoms. But some experience these symptoms. So what are these symptoms:

    - If the pregnancy test you learned that you are pregnant is positive this week and negative the next week,

    - If Beta HCG values in the blood have started to decrease,

    - If the pregnant woman starts to bleed even though the pregnancy test is positive,

    - If cramps and contractions appear in the abdomen,

    - If you have seen light pink or brown spots before your period has come, you may be experiencing a chemical pregnancy, you should be examined by your doctor immediately.

What Should Those Who Experience Chemical Pregnancy Symptoms Do?

Those who experience the symptoms mentioned above should first be examined by an obstetrician they are under follow-up. The obstetrician will request a beta hcg hormone test from the woman at risk of chemical pregnancy. If the number of this test is lower than the previous test, it is understood that a chemical pregnancy has started. Abortion completes spontaneously without any treatment.

The most curious issue is whether the pregnancy will be terminated in case of chemical pregnancy. In a chemical pregnancy, the pregnancy will terminate spontaneously without the need for any medical intervention, as the embryo will fall off on its own. Another question that comes to mind is how many days a chemical pregnancy will last. A chemical pregnancy will last between 3 and 5 days, just like menstrual bleeding. The patient should spend this period resting. In addition to bleeding, she may experience mild cramping and pain. There is never anything serious to worry about.

Can People Who Have Had a Chemical Pregnancy Get Pregnant Again?

During this period when women who dream of becoming a mother are happy to be pregnant, their pregnancy ends in a very short time. In addition to the complaints such as cramps and pains, they also have to cope with the anxiety of not being a mother. But expectant mothers should never worry. Because women who have had a chemical pregnancy will not have any problems getting pregnant again. Chemical pregnancy does not constitute an obstacle to getting pregnant. In a chemical pregnancy, the woman can become pregnant again 2-3 weeks after this event.
